Carmen is never one to dress down or in standard uniform. She usually wears a revealing blouse that shows much of her chest and a loose sarong that exposes her long slender legs with a snake or scale like designs or skulls covering it. She also usually wears a pair of golden snake earrings along with high heeled shoes. Some would think Carmen's outfit choices would get in the way of her ninja life style, but thanks to her experience she is able to move around in her outfits as easily as a ninja would move around in regular uniform. She has many other exotic outfits such as qipaos, long dresses, and other various colored sarongs and garments. She enjoys dressing different from everyone else and disdains standard uniforms, such as her anbu uniform, and will only wear it if completely necessary; though even then she will usually "accessorize" her uniform. Most would call Carmen's style loud and exotic. She usually gets the attention of many people when she walks by both good and bad. She has a knack for standing out, given her appearance and clothing style, though Carmen herself believes it is perfectly normal and casual to dress how she does, and doesn't usually notice or care about the attention it brings.

Personality Description: Carmen is usually calm, taciturn, level-headed, and analytical, preferring to not engage in combat right off the bat. She is content with silently observing both parties until the fighting reaches its conclusion. She has a strong grasp over her emotions, so much so that no one can ever tell how she is actually feeling or thinking. She can pretend to portray a certain emotion to throw others off her real emotions. She is highly perceptive however, able to see through a person's demeanor to determine what they are thinking about most of time, and is very good at reading people based on their body language and facial expression alone.
She is known for her incredibly sarcastic and devious attitude. She is not above lying and manipulating people to get the job done, and is an incredibly talented liar and actress, able to fake a personality and lie with no trigger on near instinct. She is not a trusting person due to her past, and there are very few people even in her own village that she trusts. She believes that the truth and secrets have high worth, and believes that most humans including herself don't tell them easily. Carmen can become paranoid quite easily, often double checking things, or sometimes reading too into something, in extreme cases when she is under stress Carmen can believe anyone around her is an enemy, going into fits of psychotic paranoia where her brain believes people are trying to kill her based on a mundane action, or something completely out of their control .
Carmen typically projects a fem fatal demeanor, even when facing great personal difficulty and usually attempts to fool people into thinking she is a girly girl, based on how she dresses and how she pretends to act, sure she likes doing her hair and picking out clothes just as much as the next girl, but in reality she is not afraid to get down and dirty. She rarely criticizes others for their faults, seeing as they are hardly any of her business, and are probably no worse than her own. It is hard to anger her since she is so laid back, but she has a very bad temper, so when she gets angry things usually end up smashed or burnt. Along with her temper is a huge streak of stubbornness, never going back on what she says, or admitting ever being wrong. She tends to either ignore, or yell at those who disagree with her, believing her way is the best most of the time.
She enjoys playing with people. She loves to get a reaction out of people, and is not afraid to freak others our make them unconformable. She is also very manipulative, frequently toying with people, flirting with them, and using her body to get what she wants. She is numb to the judgement of others, to the point that, if needed, she could walk around naked if just to throw others off. She is very understanding of others, even if they are deemed insane she can usually understand the motive for why people do things, though it is hard others to understand her. She has learned to act out and portray emotions to further her playing, she can cry on command one second, and then become happy the next. She will do what it takes to get what she wants no matter the cost whether it be through torture, seduction, aggression, or any other means.
Carmen, though appearing calm at first is actually quite sadistic, and masochistic, growing more and more excited as she fights. Though she will usually not stat and battle or try to drag on the battle in the beginning, once she gets into it there is no stopping her. She will kill without remorse, and kill with no sympathy. She loves to the feel of others blood on her, it gives her a rush, and she takes pleasure in torture, and pain not only by dealing it to others, but by also receiving it. Her brain is racked with sadistic impulses forcing her mind to grown accustomed to the grotesque and strange so much so that nothing ever really phases her. She is known to play with her opponents, relishing in the battle and pain that she dishes out and receives, sometimes allowing her opponents to strike her just to continue the battle and feel the sweet sting of pain. She is known to leave her opponents alive, sometimes she will even beg or coach others into attacking her, or 'imprison" them with her doton justu or medical ninjutsu in order for them to feel her torture, and continue to play with them for as long as possible before showering in their blood to achieve a true ecstasy. She is a fan of most pain based torture, but also enjoys using humiliation to torture others, whether it be through sexual means or others.
Carmen has a high tolerance for alcohol and is able to drink almost anyone under the table. She has never been able to get drunk in her life time and believes herself immune to the effect of alcohol. She strangely likes the taste of most if not all alcohol and she never turns down a drinking challenge and is the reason that she is so well known at all the bars no only in her village, but any village she has visited as the "Vodka Queen." She is an avid smoker, smoking at least half a pack a day, some would say she is addicted, but those people who say that usually get the shit kicked out of them, so what do they know. She usually hides a pipe or a pack of cigarettes in her ninja pouches or in her cleavage and lights them off with her fie justu.
Though she is a sadist and a masochist Carmen still loves her village. She may not always do missions if there too much "work" or "bore" her, but she will always protect as long as she can trust the village. She has the habit of assigning worth to things in life, such as ninja she meets, or values like trust. The village is her home, and as long as she trusts there is nothing else worth more to her. She will do what it takes to keep her village and her fellow ninja alive, no matter the cost. Carmen is a compassionate and fun leader, but a leader nonetheless. She will assess any problems in her squad or in the anbu and deal with it as swiftly and efficiently as possible to keep her group going. She shockingly has great people skills, and is social with everyone in her village. She listens to the problems of all her anbu and fellow ninja and gives them advice on what to do. She is good of taking control of a situation and giving orders, using all the skills available to her to her advantage.

Background:
History: Traveling, always traveling. That is how Carmen remembers the first years of her life. Her mother was a ninja turned rouge from a small unknown village that had fears her for her strange abilities and strange personality. She never knew her father, only knowing that he/now her was of the nara clan, and her mother had lured him in for one night and stole the secrets of the nara clan justu, before painfully torturing and humiliating him, ending in the guy no long having his manhood attached to him physically or mentally. Her mother was forced to join a band of rouges for hire, so she could sustain herself, and Carmen, whom even though was unexpected for her mother, still was loved by her. Well love is a strong word, Carmen was her position, and being a position meant that Carmen had worth. Seeing as her mother had the particularly rare abilities of the nara, she had jobs quite often. Nothing big just grave robbery, looting small villages, and the occasional assassination. The band of rouges grew very well known fast. Carmen was only 6 at the time, and thought nothing of what her mother did to feed her. She would stay back at their hideout her mother forcing one of the band's members to watch her. She always thought of the band as family, they played games with her, taught her, and cared for her. She never realized they could kill her without a second thought, though they never would as the band feared her mother as she was prone to fits of extreme paranoia, usually ending with her torturing and killing one of the members she deemed had betrayed, and lied her and the group. Carmen's mother would force her to watch usually, telling her just how to inflict mass pain on the victim of torture, as well as a plethora of different techniques for torture. Her mother also did this not only to teach Carmen, but to show her that betrayal and mistakes always ended in punishment. Carmen went through many baby sitters in her time with her mother, each one only usually lasting a mouth or two, before her mother killed them for some kind of sin, though once or twice Carmen would tell her mother the sitter beat her or something in order to get rid of them if she didn't like them, though they usually received a much harsher punishment, such as crucifixion, or disembowelment. Carmen did not do this for pleasure, or sadistic reasons, it was simply how she was raised, if you do something wrong you are punished. She was not immune to her mother's strange quirks, very often being hit or or cut for her own mistakes, such as not doing chores she had not been assigned, or making up a lie that was true. She would often cry at these at first, though she would begin to become numb to them once she was branded. At age 6 Carmen became the outlet for one of her mothers extremely rage induced panic moments leading to her mother tying her down and branding her katon heated forehead protector that bore the mark of her mother's group into her left thigh. This was to show her that she was property to her mother forever, and to be a constant reminder to never disobey her mother. The branding was the worse punishment she had ever received, but Carmen did not cry, she did not feel simply pain this time, there was something else there, it excited her, made her feel alive, she realized that she was enjoying the branding, it made her feel good for some reason. Her mother told her she punished her because she loved her, and Carmen now believed that to be true, punishment was love, pain was love, and Carmen's mother loved her very much.
When she turned 7 the band had grown quite famous and had been assigned the biggest mission of their life, to assassinate the daimyo of the land of lightning. The money they would receive for the mission would be enough for her mother to never have to work again. They were hiking through the mountain filled area of the land of lighting on their way to meet their employer when they were ambushed by a group of rouge ninja. The group had apparently been assigned to take out the band of rouges for a similar reward and a large battle ensued between the two. In the end only Carmen, her mother, and the missing ninja leader were left alive. The leader with the last of his life was to use a doton jutsu to caused the ground beneath everyone to open up and attempt to swallow everyone, suffocating and crushing them all. Carmen's mother had received severe injuries making her incredibly weak, but with the last of her strength she kicked Carmen out of the range of the pit just before it opened and crushed the two. All Carmen had left was her mother's bag, and she was quickly blacking out from the wounds she had also received from the battle, and her mother's kick. As she blacked out she heard footsteps coming towards her.
Carmen would wind up in the kumo orphanage, after being found in the outskirts of the village by one of the orphanage workers that was collecting herbs. They had taken her back to the orphanage and healed her, as several of the staff were medical ninja. They tried to ask her who she was, but Carmen knew that she couldn't actually tell them her past as her mother was a highly known missing ninja, instead saying she did not know where she had come from and that she had just wound up here. The people at the orphanage believed it was just amnesia and took her in.The orphanage was lead by a former anbu, and former head of interrogation named Liz. Liz was a good detector of bullshit and did not take crap from anyone. She immediately was suspicious of Carmen, and decided to test her. One night at dinner Liz would through a kuni at Carmen randomly, forcing her to immediately go for a substitution justu, as she did not have time to think of anything else. Showing that she did not have amnesia. Liz took Carmen to her office and forced her to tell her what happened detecting any lies thanks to her sensory abilities. She was forced to tell her the truth and expected to be turned over and sent to to death for her mother's deeds, instead Liz felt sorry for the girl and said she would not go to the authorities, if she enrolled in the ninja academy and became a cloud ninja. Carmen agreed, as she did not want to be sent to jail or death. So from that moment on she trained to become a genin of the cloud with the help of Liz.
Carmen was able to become an genin very quickly at age 8, already being taught most basic ninja things by her mother, she was able to pass through the academy in one year. She was placed on a team, and sent on many missions after that. She did not get along with the two other genin in her group, believing them to be wastes and not needed, as she thought she could take care of everything herself. Carmen was told many times to work on her teamwork, but her fighting style and personality made team work very challenging as her teammates tended to get in the way of her shadow justu's path. She was a loner outside of missions as well, preferring not to talk to others and spend her time training, napping, or helping out around the orphanage. The orphanage was the only place she was social, playing with the other kids, and teaching them some basic ninjustu and ninja abilities to defend themselves. Liz was worried that her attitude to others would affect how she did as a ninja, so she tried very hard to get her to a bit nicer to others on her team. Carmen would not listen, as she was pretty hard headed and thought she could handle everything on her own. Liz needed to think of a way to make sure that she did not ruin her chances as a ninja by being how she was, so she told Carmen she would show her a powerful fighting stlye that would would assist with her fighting style, if her team managed to get into the chunin exams. Carmen was intrigued about this fighting style, so she made it her goal to enter the chunin exams that year.
Carmen knew that to enter the chunin exams her other two teammates would also have to be somewhat decent, so she suggested they spar everyday, and by suggested she forced them to. Through these spars many injuries happened, but all the genin got much better through this, even Carmen, and were able to work better as a team as they knew each others abilities fully now, she even developed justu to half protect her comrades with shields of doton. They surprised their jounin captain by taking on a band of rouges by themselves swiftly with teamwork, and completing many others missions with much more efficiency. Their captain, noticing how much better they had gotten, recommended them and they were placed in the chunin exams. Liz was astonished to hear that she had been able to get in the chunin exams so swiftly. She kept her word however and taught Carmen one of her signature techniques, the summoning justu, the beginning justu in the way of fighting with summons. Carmen could not believe such a strange fighting style based on working with animals truly existed and told Liz show her it first hand. so Liz decided to show her by sparring. Needless to say Liz kicked her butt, and Carmen was completely amazed by the snake based justus of Liz's summons. Liz would continue to spar with her and help her master the snake justus, and bring her to the summoning world of snakes, Ryuchi cave to begin a summoning contract with them. While doing this Carmen would also train with her teammates helping them bond and grow. By the time the chunin exams began she felt like her team could not lose.
The Chunin exams were a tough but fun experience for Carmen, and she and her her team passed the first two tests easily. The final exam gave Carmen her first challenge in her ninja carrier. Her first match was not hard as her hiden justu allowed her to literally to not take physical damage thanks to her ability to paralyze others with shadows and beat her opponent easily. the next match was slightly harder forcing her to use her earth based long ranged attacks in conjunction with her shadows. Her final match was by far her most difficult forcing her to use the new snake style justu she had learned to just keep deflecting blows and get minor hits, it forced her to use a creative mind set and expel more chakra than she ever had by summoning a gigantic snake that scared many of the viewers. She ended up killing her opponent by not being able to control her summon well enough, ending up with the snake comping half the boy's body in half with its face, and cause blood to splatter all over Carmen. The moment she felt herself covered in her opponent's blood she felt something stir in her, excitement, the pain from her wounds faded into pure pleasure, she was alive. There was little left of the genin to be brought back for burial. No one blamed her seeing it as an accident of her pouring too much chakra into her technique and losing control. She agreed on it being an accident, even though she had secretly enjoyed seeing her opponent die and being sprayed in his blood.
Carmen was excited about being chunin at age 12 and worked very hard on each mission she was placed on. She began training more seriously with Liz taking an interest in medical based justu as it allowed her to do many things, as well as help her teammates, as well as sensory as that was Liz's specialty. Liz being a master in medical ninjutsu agreed to teach her seeing that she took being a ninja very seriously. She would go on missions during the day and train, and help around the orphanage when she was free or recovering. Carmen had not seen her former teammates for some time until she was assigned on a high ranking mission with one them. The mission was to check out a small village near the cloud village that was rumored to be planning to destroy the Cloud. Carmen, her teammate, and a group of other ninja were ambushed the night they got to the village, and were forced to fight for their lives against the ninja of the village. Back up from the cloud were called, but when the back up came they found the battle field flooded in blood, there were no bodies every recovered, but many limbs and faces made of stone were scattered around, terrified faces of stone laid across the battlefield and a darkness seemed to cover the place. In the center of the darkness would be Carmen surrounded by many statues of people in terror, covered in blood, holding her dead teammate and whispering to herself, as tears and blood dripped from her face. The mission was deemed a failure, and classified for all the lives lost, but the minor village never tried to plan an attack again, and gossip of how they found Carmen spread through the village like wildfire, starting her nickname "Gorgon" as everything around her had seemed to be turned to stone.
Carmen would be forced on a break from her duties as a ninja after the disaster of a mission, and would spend her time healing, physically and mentally. She was distant for some time spending her days in bed, not even communicating with Liz or the kids at the orphanage. Liz eventually had to force her to snap out of her depression by knocking the shit into her in a fight. After Liz smacked the shit into her, Carmen was able to get over her depression over the mission, and start taking better care of herself. She returned to her regular life of missions, training, and orphanage work, though not everything was as before. Carmen had grown a lot in her time of recovery, and had begun blossoming into a women, many of her fellow male and female ninja were infatuated by her new appearance, and often flirted with her now and requested to go on missions with her. Carmen tried to avoid all this unwanted attention and focused on her training. She was able to grow as a ninja quickly by training with Liz, showing a lot of progress. Liz, saw how well she had recovered, and how she had matured pulled some strings and got Carmen approved to become Jounin at age 17.
Carmen was very excited to become a jounin, and finally get out of the rut that had been chunin. She still trained with Liz, but it was quite obvious she was starting to out match Liz, and Liz's body was not what it used to be, worked over from the days as an anbu and managing an entire orphanage. She begged Liz to stop working so hard with training, and the orphanage, but Liz told her she would be fine. Carmen went on many missions, though she always tried to get time off to watch Liz and help her so she could rest more. Sadly even Carmen taking over some of Liz's work load did not stop her from working 24/7 and eventually that life style cost Liz her life. Carmen had been away on a mission, when Liz died. Liz's body just could not take the stress of her life style anymore, so she died in in her sleep, after being bed ridden for one week, thankfully she died happily, saying good bye to all the children she had cared, well all but Carmen.
Carmen had rushed back from her mission, scared for Liz's health, she completed the month long mission in one week just so she could get back to help. Unfortunately all of her work was for nothing, and she was told of Liz's death. Liz had given her the rights to some of the orphanage, to do with what she saw fit for the children, as well as her snake summoning contract and other various scrolls of justu. Carmen was not in the right state of mind to take care of an orphanage so she left it to a few of Liz's most trusted helpers, while she sunk once again into loneliness and depression. She spent many of her days at the bars, smoking and drinking her life away contemplating in her few clear moments why Liz had lied to her, why anyone had lied to her. Her mother, Liz, even Carmen's teammate had lied when she had said they would both be rivals for kage one day. Carmen had hit rock bottom the hardest this time, and she did not know if she would ever get back up on her feet, she probably would not have if she had not wandered in her stupor to a bar where two ninja were talking loudly about ninja, gossiping really. They probably did not know it, but Carmen had REALLY good hearing and could hear herself being brought up. They talked about how she was washed up, probably doing drugs and whoring herself out, the rumors of how she had hadn't showed up for any of her missions, her nickname as the Gorgon and how she they had never liked her. Though there words stung, they allowed Carmen a moment of clarity, what the hell was she doing? She was not living for the people who had sacrificed for her would want her to. She felt mad at the world for taking the people from her, mad at these douchebags for talking shit about her, especially when she was in the same room as them, but most of all she was mad at herself for being such a little bitch about everything. She was gonna turn her life around, and she did, right after she was got done beating the shit out of the two little bitches who had shit talked her.
After that mental epiphany Carmen got back on her feet and began doing missions again as a jounin. She also once again helped at the orphanage when she could, taking over many of Liz's duties, though she still left times for many brakes as she had seen through Liz what happened when someone only worked. She was a much different person from before, now being a much friendlier and kind person, and embracing her own individuality by developing her own sense of style. She was now a full fledged woman and many noticed her beauty. Overtime Carmen was beginning to make quite a name for herself, leading many missions and even soloing some missions meant for two people. For once people were speaking nicely about the Hydra, some now calling her the Snake Empress. Eventually she was able to be promoted to anbu for all her work by the age of 21. As an anbu she dealt with many of the darker things in the ninja world, assassinations, spying on other villages, and even sabotaging. Carmen had no qualms about anything of these things as she had already seen more than enough dark and grotesque things when living with her mother. In fact thanks to living with her mother, and learning from Liz, Carmen was able to become an incredibly talented anbu ninja and information gatherer, able to spy and gather information of targets in record times. It was through these skills with ninjustu, the grotesque and questionable, and information gathering, that she was promoted to anbu captain. Carmen felt like her life was finally back on the right track and felt like she was doing her mother and Liz proud, though she did still smoke and drink a lot to ease the pain of being on that track alone.
