Life as the Mizukage was difficult, something that Kali Himitsu, the twelfth person to hold such a prestigious position, was still learning. The twenty-year-old widow and mother of one had a laundry list of duties to fulfill on a daily basis, and quite frankly her duties were beginning to take it’s toll on her psyche, though she hid it well. Sometimes the woman felt like neglecting her duties for a day in favor of spending time with her two-year-old daughter, even if that time was spent in bed with the two cuddling close to one another as they slept. There was also the option of spending time with Krenos, the only man that had caught her attention since the death of her first husband, but than again her daughter came before her love life, or at least for now. With two months having gone by, and the workload not getting any lighter, Kali had decided that a day off was in order though one that wouldn’t be for rest. She had informed the administration that she would not be coming in today and that she would handle whatever she had missed tomorrow, but for now she would be taking a trip to the training field to improve some skills.

Though she wished to spend time with her daughter, she knew that training needed to come first and having the two-year-old sit and watch wasn’t an option. Usually the young Himitsu would be brought to the training ground so that she may watch her mother, but since Kali was going to be training with another individual, she deemed it too dangerous for her daughter to be around. Of course it was something that had greatly upset the two-year-old, the child and the mother missing the time that they spent together, but the Mizukage wasn’t one to give in just because her child was crying. Karma needed to understand that though they spent less time with one another that her mother still loved her a lot and will do her best to clear her schedule so that more time could be spent with her. But as of now, she needed to improve the skills she already had so that she may perform her job as protector of Kirigakure no Sato better. So with a kiss upon the two-year-old’s forehead, Kali departed from the small home that she use to share with her deceased husband, though the place was beginning to not feel like home.

She walked the streets of Kirigakure, a smile upon her porcelain face and brown eyes filled with enthusiasm. Kali greeted all who caught her eye, though she didn’t stick around for idle chit-chat since she had somewhere to be, and by god will she be on time. Being tardy wasn’t an option for her, it never has been nor shall it ever, and thus when she felt like a considerable amount of time had been wasted calming down Karma and talking to the residents of Kirigakure, she picked up the pace. Raphael, a young man that had recently been inducted into the Anbu corps, would not be kept waiting. She arrived at the training ground five minutes later, eyes scanning the area as she looked for the Hyuga.

The sun had barely peaked over the horizon and Raphael was sitting on his bed in silence; he was just sitting there thinking back to when he was still in Konoha. The moment he killed his cousin would be a more precise depiction of what was going on inside the mind of the Hyuga. It had only been a few years since he had to flee his homeland and come here in order to start a new life. Nothing much had changed between now and then except for one thing; Raphael was alone now. He had no family here and did not bother to make any friends although he was nice to ever villager and person he came across he never actually got close to them. The closest thing to a friend he had was the newly inducted Mizukage who had asked him to join the Anbu Corps. Both Raphael and Kali were young to for their respective positions, but were far beyond their age in terms of combat prowess. Raphael would continue to sit on his bed leaning back so that his back would gently land on the now cool sheets of the bed. He stared at the ceiling and tried to remember the faces of his younger cousins to no avail. He then tried to remember the faces of his Mother and Father; once again he would draw blanks. The only face that he could remember was that of his cousin, who would most likely haunt him for the rest of his life.

Raphael would hear a ticking sound coming from the window that was right behind his head. When he would lean back to see exactly what is was making the noise he would see a small bird with a note attached to the leg. Raphael would flip over and open up the window in order to get the note from the bird. The Hyuga would carefully pull the string that held the bird and note together; when he did the bird would fly off and return to most likely the administration building. Raphael would open the note and read it. “The Mizukage will not be coming in today. Instead you are to meet her at the training grounds.” Raphael would immediately crumble up the paper and toss it in the trash can. Looks like he was to help Kali get some training done, which was fine with Raphael; he felt as if he needed to get some training in as well. Raphael stood up and stretched before heading into the bathroom to take a shower. After that he would brush his teeth etc, before heading out of the door towards the training grounds. He was particularly moving fast, but he was not moving slow either; it was a moderate pace. As he walked through the village on such a early morning a few of the older villages were out setting up their some store and goods. Just about each one of them that saw Raphael would smile and wave to him.

Raphael would wave back to them while continuing to he was most likely not going to be late, but he was not going to think that way until he arrived at the training grounds and Kali was not there to see if Kali had made it earlier than their scheduled time as well. It was extremely early after all it was barely morning and she did have a child to take care of. Raphael would find a tree and lean against while waiting for Kali. He knew she would not be long considering how punctual she was known to be. The Hyuga would cross his arms and close his eyes as he waited for the off duty Mizukage to make her entrance. This would be the first time that Raphael would get a chance to see his Kage’s combat prowess. It was as if he had known her for such a long time, but the two of them never actually sparred nor has Raphael ever actually seen Kali in combat whether it be life or death or just a friendly spar such as this. This was defiantly going to a interesting experience indeed. Raphael felt a chill of excitement shoot down his spine. It was a feeling that he had not felt in a long time.

She was on time, arriving not a second sooner or later than the designated time, and it seemed like Raphael was here as well. Brown eyes locked onto his form, mind automatically calculating the distance between herself and the male that was no more than a year younger than her. Eyes observed his physical appearance as she closed the gap between the two, a grin crossing her face and her eyes seem to be filled with either enthusiasm or amusement. Though the male’s eyes were closed, Kali had a feeling that he sensed her arrival, albeit she wasn’t trying to mask it for there was no reason to. For a flitting second, her eyes roamed around the training ground, taking note of the surrounding area despite the fact that she had been there on more than one occasion. It was something she did a lot, for there could always be changes in an environment, no matter how slight, and since the two were to spar in a moment, she decided that observing the area before the spar began would be beneficial to her in the long run. Her eyes were back on Raphael and she halted her advances, hand running through her hair and flicking it.

“So happy that you could come, Raphael-san,” Kali said softly as her arm was brought down to hang idly at her side. “I do hope I haven’t inconvenienced you in any sort of matter, my request was spontaneous to say the least,” she continued, chuckling softly before falling silent for a moment. More calculations were done as she took note of the weather, something that she had ignored up until now. To say that the village was experiencing mist aloud would earn said person a stare that could mean a lot of things. The village wasn’t known for being shrouded in mist for nothing. But that didn’t really matter to Kali, no, she only hinted the fact that the mist was light today instead of being heavy like it usually is. Something that she should had noticed a while ago since she was able to see much better, but than again that didn’t matter now since she noticed now. It would change a few things about the spar, though she wished the mist was a little heavier so that she could disappear into it, she would adapt to this. She cocked her head to the side as she took several steps back, going from ten feet away from Raphael to fifteen.

“I thank you for joining me, Raphael.” Kali said, smile upon her face as she pulled all of her hair into a single ponytail before turning that into a bun, having little desire to have her almost black strands in her face. “Shall we begin?” She asked, hands dropping to her sides, finished with adjusting her hair. Though her hands would not be idle for long as they flew up to form the horse hand seal. Chakra flowed through her body, pooling into her throat as she released a thick layer of acidic mist from her mouth. With no desire to harm the new member of the Anbu corps, the pH level had been set to five, at least for the moment. Within seconds the area within a fifteen meter radius of Kali would be shrouded by this mist. With little desire to stay in the same place, she moved ten feet to the left and eight feet backwards. Though blinded in the mist, Kali had access to sensory techniques, but she wouldn’t use it just yet. No, it was Raphael’s turn to make a move.

Raphael would inhale a deep breath taking in all the various smells that the training ground had to offer this morning. He slowly opened his eyes when he would feel the powerful presence that was known only to come from the Mizukage. Upon opening his eyes he would see Kali approaching him. Raphael would leave his leaning position and shift to standing straight up as the Mizukage approached him. The white eyes of the Hyuga would quickly scan his sparring partner taking note of her height, weight, and build. Based upon his previous knowledge of the woman standing before him she would was of the Terumi Clan; the main bloodline of the family at that, which meant she was well rehearsed in Boil as well as Lava Techniques. Not only was that but her ability in regards to Taijutsu; was just almost as advanced as his own, while her Ninjutsu prowess over shadowed many within the village. Raphael would feel another chill shoot through his body. If his mouth were to be visible then one would be able to see the slight smile of anticipation that had found its way onto the face of Raphael. He would then take a quick yet detail look around the entirety of the training grounds taking note of every tree, rock, animal, flower, and puddle that may be there, so that nothing could surprise him.

Raphael’s analysis of the current situation would end just as Kali began to talk. He listened intently to what she was saying. Her voice had a calming tone to it yet it was sweet; it would also exhibit a strong and powerful under tone. “Not a problem at all Lady Mizukage. You did not inconvenience me in any way, as you know I would have simply taken another mission. Besides I was in need of some training. I fear my skills were becoming rusty due to simple assassination missions.” Raphael would quickly take notice to the head turn of Kali then the distance that she was putting between the two of them. He automatically would prepare himself for an attack from Kali. “Let’s…” Raphael would say as he watched Kali form a single hand sign; it was the Horse to be precise. Suddenly a thick fog would begin to spew from the mouth of the Mizukage; the fog she spewed the once light. It would encase you two shinobi causing Raphael to lose sight of Kali, but not for long. Veins would begin to stretch across the face of Lavii from the corners of his eyes; he had activated his Byakugan. The once hidden Kali could now be seen by the Hyuga man. Raphael without hesitation would move to the left 8 feet just as Kali had. He moved in close to her, but would stop at 13 feet out and send a quick and sturdy palm strike into the air; although the hand of Raphael did not physically hit anything a invisible blast if you will of chakra would explode from his palm and rocket towards Kali. As soon as the attack would leave his palm Raphael would move to the right 5 feet and close in closer to her 6 more feet and send another palm strike towards her that would send another wave of invisible chakra towards Kali.

Raphael had almost managed to hit her with whatever he was sending her way, having missed by two feet, two feet that Kali found herself grateful for. She should had known that disappearing into the mist would had been impossible as soon as his Byakugan was active, but she wanted to see if it could see through a thick blanket of acidic mist even though the answer to that question was obvious. If it could see through Hidden Mist, what prevented it from seeing through Skilled Mist? The answer was nothing, but it was always nice to confirm these sort of things on your own instead of relying on the words spoken or written by others. Though she knew that the man would be sending another attack at her very quickly, the woman made no move to find another spot or to even get out of the attacks range. No, she would rather feel what the attack felt like only for her to build a tolerance to it later down the road. Not something one may see as sensible, but one that she saw as being rather useful if she were to ever dance with another Hyuga, a hostile one even.

Kali closed her eyes and gave a soft sigh before the invisible force that could only be chakra, for wind would had likely disrupted the mist, sent her flying twenty feet, making the gap between the two even bigger, thirty-three feet to be exact. Those brown eyes would open, calmly looking what she believed to be down as her mind quickly assessed the damage down to her body. It had been somewhat painful, though not as much as it would had been if she hadn’t been beaten on numerous occasions by three very sadistic mentors. Not only was her pain threshold high due to the training she had undergone since the day she became an official Shinobi, but it had also been approved upon greatly thanks to a dozen sparring mates and dangerous missions. She saw the ground incoming, could feel her body descending towards the ground, and for a flitting moment she thought about adjusting herself so that she landed on her feet, but for one reason or another, decided against it. Thus her body was smacked into the ground, and she would roll, increasing the gap by another five feet. As she came out of the roll, she adjusted herself ever so slightly so that she would finish on her back, with one arm positioned on her side with the other stretched out on the ground.

Her head was turned to the left and her body automatically grew limp, as if the sheer force of Raphael’s attack had put her into a state of temporary unconsciousness. Kali knew she was fine, but the younger male didn’t and if he wanted to check he would need to close that gape between the two. She wasn’t going to move a muscle voluntarily, and thus her sole movement was the rise and fall of her chest. She felt somewhat sore, but then again, it was something that she could ignore easily. She knew that she could probably easily win the fight by simply increasing the pH level, but then again she wanted to practice her hand-to-hand combat, something that was inferior, painstakingly so, to her Ninjutsu. Raphael would prove the perfect person to practice with, he being a Hyuga, a clan known for their Taijutsu prowess. And if she felt like the odds needed to be tilted in her favor, she had no problem with increasing the pH level by one. But for now she laid still as she listened for Raphael.

Raphael watched as his attacks moved through the mist produced by the Mizukage. Raphael continued to feel a surge of excitement run the length of his spine as the invisible waves cut through the fog. While his movements happened his mind began to quickly have millions of different thoughts none of which would distract him from what was going on within this spar; of all the shinboi within the village why had she chosen Raphael to have this spar with. They barely knew each other and had only heard of the skills that each possessed, but she did choose Raphael as the newest inductee into the Anbu Corps due to what she had heard of him throughout the village and from other shinobi. Raphael could not figure out the reason that he was chosen, but he would show Kali, or rather Lady Mizukage, that she had made the right choice in her decision to ask him for this spar. He was going to have to pull out all the stops for her; Raphael did not intend to let his foot off the pedal at any moment. Whether or not one of them ended up getting injured he was not going to be afraid to attack the Mizukage just because of her title, and he had a feeling that she would not want Raphael to slack just because she was the Leader of the village.

Raphael’s first attack would miss, but he knew it would but it was an attack that would throw off his opponent. Raphael took note of how the Mizukage would not move an inch after the first wave was sent towards her. Raphael was no fool he knew that Kali was battle tested enough that she would not fall for a simple attack like this; when the attack would land and send her flying Raphael would take off towards her. His years of training had gotten his body to a point where he could move 25 m in an instant, one second to be exact and he had done so now. When his 2nd attack would land Raphael would waste no time in moving towards her with a quick burst of speed. When she would roll and remain lying on the ground Raphael would send a flurry of palm strikes towards the side of the downed Kali. It wasn’t like this was a serious fight, but they had to simulate some kind of hostile vibe, otherwise in a serious fight it could cause one of them to become slack and lose in a battle. Raphael was not going to miss out on the opportunity to spar the Mizukage and push himself as well as Kali to their limit. Raphael noticed that they had ended up outside of the mist that Kali had created. Even if his attacks did not land Raphael was already prepared to counter whatever the Mizukage would throw at him.

Although he began to wonder what it was that Kali would do he Raphael still remained focused on the battle. He figured she had time to create another mist, but even that would be iffy at best. Raphael had not given her anytime to do anything and justly so Kali could easily change the tide of battle at any given moment with a simple hand seal, something that she had probably done so many times before.

OOC: We are sixteen/seventeen feet away from exiting the mist, for the radius is fifteen meters, which is roughly forty-nine/fifty feet. Eight plus twenty, plus an addition five feet brings us to thirty-three feet, leaving us with sixteen or seventeen more feet to go before we are out the mist. This math doesn’t take into account your position since it’s a fifteen meter radius with Kali being the center of that radius when the technique is first activated. Also, unless you are bending down or getting on your knees, I don’t see how you are delivering palm strikes to my side. Not entirely sure of your position in relations to Kali’s body, as in being on her left or right side, or maybe even standing over her with your legs on either side of her body, but I have taken the liberty of specifying that myself. Now on to the post.

He neared, as she had expected, and he had done so quickly, giving the time that it had taken him to close the thirty-eight feet gap that had been created between the two. He was on her left side, from what she could tell with her ears, though she couldn’t be entirely sure since she couldn’t see him. A sensory technique would definitely be a nice thing to have, but then again, it would easily betray her ‘unconscious’ state. Yet she made a mental note to develop some sensory techniques when she had the time for they would be quite nice to have in the long run. But for now, the newly appointed Mizukage had to focus on the spar at hand which seemed to be going in Raphael’s favor. It may cause one to be concerned about the Mizukage’s ability to protect the village from any harm that may come her way, for if she were so easily defeated by a Hyūga than she wasn’t as strong as she was hyped up to be. It was a spar, but that didn’t really matter. Kali was expected to win, and though there was no a person in sight, tales of her defeat would circulate throughout the village.

She may not be overly concerned about the opinions of the masses when it comes down to the results of a spar, but she wouldn’t allow herself to be beaten by anyone. With his position known, Kali’s body suddenly moved, and quickly Raphael would find that the woman intended to kick his feet from underneath him with a swing of her right leg. If she were to miss, and even if she weren’t, the Mizukage was on her feet quickly. Depending on the results of her attack, she would either retreat into the mist long enough to bring the pH level down to four, or, if Raphael was on the ground, attempt to stomp on him. She didn’t particularly care what she stomped on so long as it wasn’t his head and chest, and if she broke a bone or two then so be it.

Since Raphael wasn’t playing with her, she felt no obligation to go easy on the younger male. Then again, she had very little intentions of doing so in the first place. If Raphael managed to dodge her attack, well as said before, she would retreat long enough to change the pH level of the mist to four. For that she would move eight feet to the left and six feet back in the direction she had come from, noting that she had done too much traveling for her own good. And once the pH level of the mist had been changed, she would prepare herself to engage Raphael in Taijutsu.

As the Hyuga known as Raphael would bend over to attack Kali he would feel pressure coming from his left ankle. As he thought she had been faking; Kali moved quickly and unexpectedly in order to throw off the attacking Hyuga and it had worked. Raphael would begin falling to the ground, but the anbu corps member was not ill prepared or unaccustomed to battle. Raphael would begin spinning like a top while he began to fall back. He moved like an experienced capoeira fighter. His legs would find themselves aimed at the lower leg of the Mizukage. If his attack connected Raphael would jump back and put 3 feet of distance between the two, so that Kali could not trip him up once again. If the attack were to land Raphael after putting space in between them would thrust his palm towards the chest of Kali causing another wave of chakra to rocket towards her.

If someone were to be watching this battle then they would assume that Raphael had the advantage, but that was quite the opposite. Looking at the current situation if they were in a real battle Raphael would have lost as soon as the battle had started. What they would not realize is that Kali could have melted the insides of her Hyuga opponent; of course Raphael wouldn’t have stayed in a mist produced from someone’s body in a actually fight. Regardless Kali could have easily ended the fight; Raphael would not be ashamed of a defeat at the hand of Kali, she was the Mizukage and the strongest individual within the village after all. Raphael began to wonder if Kali would increase the potency of her clans jutsu; if she did the Raphael would be in some serious trouble in regards to winning this spar, if would have to get out of the mists range and soon.

Regardless of the outcome of Raphael’s counter he would begin moving out of the mist after his counter was successful or failed, It did not matter he would move to the right swiftly exiting the mist. The Hyuga had moved 25 meters to the right in order to fully escape the mist. While outside of the mist Raphael quickly asses the environment, but he concentration would never falter from Kali. The natural mist of the village had become thicker. It obviously did not bother the Byakugan wielding Raphael; it however would affect Kali much like her own mist had impaired her vision.

On her feet one moment and on the ground the next, Kali wouldn’t be surprised if she looked like she had been rolling around in the dirt after the spar came to a conclusion since she had been doing just that. She had expected for him to retaliate, any seasoned fighter would expect him to do so, but she had failed to get out of the way of his flailing limbs and thus was knocked to the ground. Yet the woman would not allow herself to be daze by his attack, instead she quickly made a mental note to take the size of his limbs into consideration next time she got him on the ground before rolling to the left, just as the man thrust his palm in her direction, she narrowly missing the chakra that had been sent her way. Quickly she was on her feet again, poised to attack the man who was proving himself to be more then a challenge and she was quite happy she had offered him a position in the Anbu corps. But she had no time to pat herself on the back or to reminiscence since she was still in the middle of a spar. Though she had time to breath since her partner had done well to get the hell away from her and she could only assume the dangerous weapon that had a limited radius of fifteen meters. Yet she could not tell how far to the right he had moved nor could she tell where his current location was, but that would be fixed pretty quickly.

It was not common knowledge that Kali had decided to make Sensory her tertiary and had thus been honing her skills in the area ever since. It was something that the newly appointed Mizukage thought her people didn’t need to know but something that they would certainly know after this spar. Her reason for taking sensory as her third specialization was simple enough, Genjutsu and Iryo Ninjutsu were off the table due to her pure status not allowing for such a thing, and the only other specialization that she could possibly have was Bukijutsu. Pair it with the fact that when the mist is activated that her vision is obscured, though such a thing rarely matters since her enemies are usually being melted from the inside, she needed a way to navigate not only her own mist but the mist created by other people. Listening skills could only get her so far, and with silent killing being a fun technique for folks to use, listening skills would be useless. Either way she was becoming adept in sensory and she would be using a basic technique that she had been practicing for sometime now. It was the simplest sensory technique that everyone learned, and it was one that allowed the user to sense the chakra of those within their range.

Kali wasn’t sure what her max range was, but it had to be greater then how many meters Raphael had retreated to and that was certainly enough for now and could be improved upon later. She sighed deeply as she closed her eyes, inhaling deeply and taking note of the fact that her mist would soon need to be replaced before opening her eyes once again. Without a single hand seal, for the technique required none, she looked around the area, silently judging the distance of the chakra signatures within her area before her senses honed in on one in particular. This one was Raphael, for there was more chakra being directed to his eyes. She smiled as she began to walk towards the source, not minding the fact that she had exit the range of her mist since another could always be created, and taking note of the fact that the natural mist that the village was known for had thicken up considerably since the spar had begun. She halted her steps upon getting within a ten meter of his position, and silently she would consider what her next course of action would be.
