The Byakugan (白眼, Literally meaning: White Eye) is the dōjutsu kekkei genkai of the Hyūga clan. It is regarded as one of the Three Great Dōjutsu (三大瞳術, San Daidōjutsu, Literally meaning: Three Great Eye Techniques), the others being the Sharingan and the Rinnegan.

The Byakugan gives the user a near 360º field of vision, except for one blind spot at the back of the neck above the first thoracic vertebra. The range of this vision varies between users and in fact can be improved with training. Its vision can penetrate through most solid objects and obstructions, though certain barriers may distort the Byakugan's perception somewhat. The Byakugan is capable of magnifying in on small targets and seeing infrared to detect a target's body heat. The Byakugan is also able to more effectively follow high-speed movements to better react to them.

Arguably, its greatest ability is to see chakra to a greater degree than the Sharingan: it can identify chakra by the the specific individuals it originates from,  determine when genjutsu is being used, and discern certain types of clone from the real thing. The Byakugan's ability to see chakra is so acute that it can actually see the chakra pathway system and the 361 tenketsu that run along it. The Hyūga have devised a style of combat known as the Gentle Fist that specifically takes advantage of this, wherein they strike an opponent's tenketsu to either seal or forcibly open these tenketsu, thus giving the user complete control over their opponent's chakra.

At ranks D-B, members of the hyuuga clan will always have an advantage in reflex over other people of their rank, so long as they are utilizing their byakugan.

D: The user may see up to 50 meters using their byakugan. The user may also sense up to D rank Genjutsu.
C: The user may see up to 500 meters with their byakugan. The user may also sense up to C rank Genjutsu.
B: The user may see up to 1 kilometer with their byakugan. The user may also sense up to B rank Genjutsu.
A: The user may see up to 5 kilometers with their byakugan. The user may also sense up to A rank Genjutsu. The user is now able to react at one rank higher while utilizing byakugan.
S: The user may see up to 10 kilometers with their byakugan. The user may also sense up to S rank Genjutsu.


The byakugan has a static cost of 20 chakra to activate. It costs 10 chakra every other round to maintain.

Hi, and thanks for volunteering to start the Hyuuga clan. Everything here is definitely factual and well researched however it needs to be molded a bit in order to fit the site just a little bit better. First off, please specify tthat Byakugan is a Doujutsu, just to make it clear. Also, you mentioned the user is able to discern genjutsu. Well naturally for the sake of RP, stronger Genjutsu will be harder to identify that weaker Genjutsu, so in your rank listings please be sure to include up to how powerful of a Genjutsu they can identify. You might want to include what degree the user's reflex increases thanks to byakugan as well. Here, the higher your ninja rank, the faster you are able to react. So, at some point perhaps the Byakugan allows the user to react one rank faster. Things like this need to be clarified in order to actually contest in the site. If theyre not described in the RP sense that fits the site they wont have any actual effect, and that would be lame.

Looks good so far. Just a bit of a buff I wanna throw your way. On ranks D-B specify that owners of the Byakugan will have a slight reflexive advantage of people on the same rank. Also, Byakugan needs chakra costs. Can be a static amount rather than a different supply for each rank however. Basic activation and upkeep should be specified.

Chakra Capacities were just upgraded because as i looked at this I realized it cost too much use jutsu. But either way, its increased dramatically now. So, bump the cost of activation like 20 and say it costs 10 to maintain every other turn, That lets you use it up to 8 turns
