Loki may be a young shinobi but he is still setup with a great deal of responsibility. He has already been awarded with an ANBU training mask and is part of the ANBU training program. In this program, Loki is able to train with Kirigakures ANBU faction as well as the rest of their elite groups. However this did not make him an ANBU of the mist but rather a trainee, a possbile applicant if you wil. The test is supposed to be in order to see if Loki is able to withstand such harsh and brutal training. Seeing as a shinobis Jounin career is one of the hardest career for a shinobi to take, it makes perfect sense that it is the organization with one of the strictest and regulating training regiments. Loki was assigned a mission to create a jutsu that will fit his ANBU career. Calculating the fact that he will be facing a great deal of powerful shinobi, even some far stronger than him; one thing came to mind. That one thing to come to mind is defense. Loki is a young man and he is going to be going head to head with a lot of ninjas that are older, wiser, and even more experienced. Because of this, Loki needs to learn how to defend himself. The young man began to meditate under a tree that was in the Kirigakure training ground. In this meditational state, Loki was able to contemplate the strengths and weaknesses that this defensive technique should contain. Seeing as Loki thinks that a technique with too great of a weakness is a useless jutsu, this new technique must have a mediocre one at best. The young shinobi thought and began to think clearly about the situation at hand. Defense isn’t the only thing Loki should be worried about, if it comes to happen Loki should learn a technique that was just as good as evading a technique as much as it is good at defending against one. The young shinobi knew that he could have made a chakra shield type of technique, but this technique wouldn’t have done any good if the shinobi he is fighting against has a jutsu that is far more superior than the shield being used. It was then optimized that the best thing to do, it to create a variant jutsu from other jutsus already learned. Loki now had to think about the parent jutsu, and it was obvious to Loki what techniques he had to take to evolve. It was the Body Replacement technique and the Body Flicker Technique.
This technique will be called Kawarimi, which is a testament to the capabilities of this jutsu. The Body Replacement Technique and the Body Flicker Technique are both the parent jutsu to the Kawarimi. The variant Kawarimi is an ancient ninja art revolving around both misdirection and the split-second timing of a switch between a 'body' and a location. This technique is utilized by a shinobi and it involves the ninja moving at high-speed to move short to long distances at an almost untraceable speed. Kawarimi means "a quick shift in position, or adaptability to changing circumstances." With this technique the user will appear to teleport the moment an attack lands. This creates an optical illusion as the enemy will see the attack phase through the user. After using this technique, the user can use the lapse in the enemy's attention to their own advantage by fleeing from the battlefield or gaining distance in combat. To an observer, it will appear as if the user simply vanished, this is accomplished by using chakra to temporarily vitalize the body and move at extreme speeds. It was simple enough in theory, since all Loki had to do was merge the two academic leveled techniques in order to create a masterful leveled one in turn. While Loki believed that his jutsu was already half way complete, saying that “thinking is half the battle.” Now Loki had to throw his focus onto the training of this jutsu, and it surely wasn’t going to be an easy training session since this technique is one of the most complicated to lear and thus one of the most high ranking jutsus that Lokis has attempted till this day. While getting ready, Loki knew that his mission was complete so he set himself up to tell the front desk about the new accomplishments but he had yet to leave for the mission center. The young man was also crazy for his reward. But then again Loki stopped and pondered the possibilities of the week in order to be taken to train. It seems like Loki didn’t have much time, so he decided to train his technique here and now.
Now of course this was only half the battle. The Kawarimi and Shunshin technique were basic techniques that were essentially going to be the parent jutsu his new jutsu derived from. He envisioned a jutsu that allowed him to move at high speeds such as the shunshin but left that object behind in his place wait... no, not an object but rather a clone of himself, an afterimage if you will. It was going to be a long day as Loki tried to think of ways to use this jutsu let alone train it or get down the basics.
