Sensory hadn’t been Kali’s first option, nor had it been her second or third, as a third specialty. Genjutsu had been her first option, followed by Iryō Ninjutsu and possibly Kugutsu, but such plans had been thwarted by her sometimes inconvenient heritage. For one reason or another, those born with the ability to wield both boil and lava release with ease and without a DNA transplant had a particular odd mixture of Yin and Yang chakra. Thanks to the proportions of these two chakra, it has made learning Genjutsu, Iryō Ninjutsu, and Kugutsu a waste of time, for no one born with both boil and lava release has ever been able to say that they were proficient in the listed arts. Though they wielded the power of two advanced elements and were immune to these two elements, something people found rather cool, the certainly had a disadvantage, one that few actually cared to think about, so fascinated with their bodies ability to hand two advanced elements to think about the cons.
It had been a huge disappointment to Kali, for she had wanted to have the advantage of placing individuals into illusions, of healing her comrades and herself, and perhaps even have something else fight for her though it was controlled by her. On top of that, thanks to her complete inability to get to a proper place of mastery in the mentioned three specialties, she had to rely on others to heal her, others to break her out of powerful illusions, much to her displeasure. It had annoyed her greatly for she didn’t like weighing her teammates down, and so when she had been presented with a way to assist them supplementary that she could become skilled in, and that had been Sensory. The one who had presented the idea to her had been Misaka, the Terumi who had taught her not only fire, water, and earth, but boil as well, on top of having found somebody to teach her lava. It was thanks to this woman that she had managed to get over her weakness and become a huge help to her teammates as well as herself.
Since finding out about Sensory, Kali had become a devoted practitioner of the arts, having come up with a dozen different techniques. She’s even working on two sensory barriers that will surround the village, notifying those tasked with maintaining the barrier of who comes and goes. One method was the simple chakra sensing technique, just on a much wider scale, and the second one was using the mist itself to keep track of those within the village without need of their chakra, though it had the disadvantage of hazy images of those within the village. Kali was still working on the systems as well as finding sensors to maintain the barrier. There was also a dozen other stuff she needed to work out before the system could go on line, but she was doing her best to enhance the village’s security.
But today she wasn’t too concerned with security, at least not as concerned as she usually was, having shoved it into the back of her mind so that she may focus her attention on something else that needed to be done and could be done easily. And that was practicing her own Sensory ability, something that was being done through a game of tag that she was having with her children. With no work she had found herself with lots of time on her hand, and decided that the best way of training was through a game. She got to practice Sensory and her children were entertained, none concerned about her cheating since they were happy to be spending time with their mother. A woman who was busy, but still managed to spend quality time with all four of her children.
It was at this time one would find Kali wondering the halls of the large estate, it being occupied by various members of her and her husband’s family, such as aunts, uncles, fathers, mother, nieces, nephews, cousins, and about any other relative affiliated with Kiri that wished to take residence in the estate. She didn’t mind their presence, the place far too big for her immediate family, and thus she was glad that the space didn’t go to waste. At the moment though her family was out, thus leaving herself and her children home alone. The Mizukage continued to walk down the halls, her footsteps silent as she strolled down the hall, eyes darting all over the place so that she didn’t end up missing a child by mistake. It had probably been two minutes since she had decided to utilize her sensing ability, and so she paused so that she may utilize it once again, making sure that her children hadn’t moved from their hiding spots.
A grin spread across her face as four chakra signatures popped up, easily distinguished between since she knew her children’s chakra levels well. Karma, the furthest of her four children, had the most chakra. The twins, sticking together as always, had the next highest chakra levels, and they were several corridors down from her current position. As for the youngest of the bunch, well she had the smallest chakra pool of course, but she was also harder to spot due to this. It wasn’t rare when Kali missed Trinity because she had missed the small blue dot on her radar, but this time around she didn’t overlook the toddler. With the three-year-old being only two corridors down and to the left, the girl was by far the closes child. She continued her walk down the hall, hands behind her back as she quietly made her way down the corridors.
She arrived at the room that the youngest decided to hide in, and without hesitation, she pushed the door open. It made a loud squeaking noise, and with the scuffling of feet reaching her ear, she knew that Trinity had heard. Kali stepped into the room, shutting the door behind her as she made a show of using her sensing skill once again. The child was under the bed, the Mizukage taking note to tell Trinity what she had told her siblings when she got older, ‘hiding under the bed isn’t hiding.’ But since the child was still young, Kali would allow the child to have her fun. “I thought she was in here,” she said, moving over to the bed and sitting upon it. “That Trinity is far to sneaky,” she stated, crawling up on the bed as she made her way over to the other side. She heard the three-year-old giggle, a grin crossing Kali’s face as she got off the bed quietly.
Slowly she bent down, carefully pulling the covers up before taking hold of her youngest leg. Gently she dragged the child from underneath the bed, enveloping her in a tight hug. “I found you,” she proclaimed happily, Trinity squealing in delight as Kali showered her with kisses. A good minute passed, and the two calmed down, both grinning as the Mizukage made for the door. “Let us find your siblings,” she said, eyes on Trinity before she twisted the door knob, swinging the door open and passing through, softly closing it behind her before making her way down the hall after using her sensory skill to locate the other three children.
